This multi-stage project required intentionality in every room to ensure the soft contemporary interior design style came to life in a cohesive way. The main elements of the design we thread through each room and space included circular shapes and clean lines, neutral colors with red decor accents, and subtle sparkles for an elegant shine.

Circular Shapes to Balance Straight Lines
Contemporary design relies on linear elements for a clean, simple aesthetic. But too many straight lines in a design can give you a harsh, cold look and feel. That’s why, for this soften contemporary interior design, we incorporated circular shapes and patterns throughout the different spaces to balance the rigid look of straight lines. From cylindrical and spherical light fixtures to cone-like tassels for the drapery to bold circles in the elevator interior, circle shapes soften the overall look for a more inviting aesthetic.
Neutral Colors with Red Decor Accents
A neutral color scheme with subtle pops of color in artwork and decor are key components of soft contemporary interior design. Layering shades of black, gray, beige, and white creates depth and dimension without being overwhelming while subtle pops of color draw the eye and add vibrancy to the space. We used this element of contemporary design to personalize this home’s interior by incorporating red decor accents in our client’s favorite shade of red. The bold, rich red color adds a touch of energy to the bedroom with red throw pillows, to the living room with red streaks in the carpet and the elevator with a red line at the handrail.
Subtle Sparkles & Shine
Contemporary style loves to mix textures and materials like soft textiles, wood tones, and metallic elements. In this soft contemporary interior design, we used sparkles in the details to add subtle shimmer and shine. The sparkling elements include Swarovski crystals sprinkled delicately on light fixtures, trips, pillows and window treatments. These shimmering details elevate the design with a luxurious look and feel that’s totally approachable and inviting thanks to their subtlety.
