Meet Our Team

The studio’s team approach ensures that multiple designers and a project manager each contribute their unique perspective and talents to your project, producing the highest level of creativity and function in the final plan.

Kelly Guinaugh, Principal Designer

Kelly Guinaugh, Principal Designer

Kelly launched Interior Enhancement Group in 1999, sparked by a passion for design and her entrepreneurial spirit. With a business degree and studies in interior design, she possesses the creativity to design beautiful interiors and the business acumen to ensure that each project progresses smoothly. From the start, she became known for uniquely personal designs that reflect her clients’ lifestyles. She understands the importance of budgets and timelines, as well as the team approach to working with architects, builders, tradespeople and, of course, you. Kelly’s inspiration stems from listening to you. She is committed to defining and embracing your design preferences, because that is the best starting point for interiors that are a perfect fit. Kelly is a member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID-Associated) and she supports Fellowship Housing Corporation, a Northwest suburban nonprofit organization that empowers single mothers to find careers they love and become financially secure. In her free moments, Kelly loves spending time with family and friends, traveling nationally and internationally, and arranging fresh flowers that beautify her home all year long.

Elizabeth Martini, Senior Interior Designer

Elizabeth

A graduate of Northern Illinois University with a BFA in interior architecture, Elizabeth brings more than 25 years’ experience in design to IEG. She is an intuitive designer who draws on her experience and collaboration with the IEG team to give clients the home of their dreams. Art is a constant source of inspiration for Elizabeth’s work. “It makes up my inner being; it is what excites me most,” she says. Elizabeth has put her mark on hundreds of residential projects and counts herself fortunate to do what she loves every day. She embraces Carl Jung’s insightful quote: “The creative mind plays with the objects it loves.” In her free time, Elizabeth enjoys anything that takes her to water and sunshine.

Susan Corsten, Senior Interior Designer

Susan Corsten

For many years, Susan has worked alongside the IEG team, collaborating on select projects. She brings more than 25 years of design experience as well as deep insights into the inner workings of a studio that has been invaluable for our clients. Susan first realized her passion and talent for design during a high school interior design class, which inspired her to earn a degree in design. “I discovered that my natural means of self-expression is to make life more beautiful,” she says. For well over two decades she has been creating the homes our clients dream of in Chicago and throughout the United States. When she isn’t searching for just the right fabrics, furniture and finishes, Susan relaxes and rejuvenates in the outdoors, hiking, skiing and kayaking. Travel is another love, and a way to “see the world through a different set of eyes. Any time you travel, especially outside the country, it alters your point of view about everything from culture and life priorities to patterns and colors.” Susan believes that discovering the way our clients want to feel at home is the first step in a successful design collaboration. “I can start creating from there.”

Julia Lewis, Senior Designer

Julia

The daughter of an interior designer, Julia grew up browsing through fabric books and exploring Chicago’s bustling Merchandise Mart with her mother. She studied interior design at Indiana University and graduated from there with a BA in Arts. She has been contributing creativity, energy and enthusiasm to IEG since 2012. “I love creating one-of-a-kind custom designs that reflect a client’s lifestyle and personality,” she says. Inspiration is everywhere for Julia, from textures and colors to the Merchandise Mart’s beautiful showrooms. She brings a fresh, well-researched perspective to our design projects, and embraces what famed designer Kelly Wearstler, says: “I look at every piece of furniture and every object as an individual sculpture.” Julia’s free time often is filled with pilates and yoga classes, exploring new restaurants and city living.

Ashley Mui, Interior Designer

Ashley

A member of the IEG team since 2016, Ashley graduated from the Illinois Institute of Art in Schaumburg with a BFA in Interior Design. She began cultivating a love for interior design as a young girl, rearranging her bedroom and watching her favorite designer, Candice Olson. “I did everything I could to make my room my own special place so I would love spending time there,” she says. Now she is helping our clients achieve those goals. Ashley particularly enjoys creating renderings and 3D models to help clients visualize what their project will look like when completed. A fashion devotée, Ashley enjoys shopping and playing video games in her free moments.

Kathy Pick, Business Manager

Kathy

Kathy enjoys the best of two worlds as the studio’s business manager. An art enthusiast, she has expertly managed our office since 2010 amid the lively, creative atmosphere of the design industry. Kathy’s forté is making sure the studio runs smoothly, from ordering and following up on furnishings to overseeing the numbers side of the business. Kathy graduated from Bradley University with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and has been an office manager in the design industry since 2000. To feed her creative spirit, she enjoys oil painting, performing with the church choir and the Des Plaines Harmonaires and leading a choir at Friendship Village.

Sheila Biell, Project Manager/Design Assistant

Sheila Biell

With her broad-based knowledge of the design industry, Sheila brings a wealth of experience to her role as liaison between our manufacturers, designers and clients. She is pro-active in overseeing all orders, updating clients on estimated delivery dates and alerting our designers about any issues requiring their attention. Sheila coordinates deliveries with clients and follows up to make sure everything went well.

The former co-owner of a furniture restoration business, Sheila has a certificate in interior design from the Illinois Institute of Art in Schaumburg and she has worked in almost every role in a design studio, from administrative to design. Her understanding of how the process works – from the first client contact to the final placement of accessories – makes her a valuable member of the IEG team. In her free time, Sheila enjoys spending time with her three children, relaxing with friends at the beach, watching a Bears’ game and traveling, especially to Mexico.

“It’s essential to me that we embrace all design styles, expanding beyond one signature look, because we want our clients’ homes and businesses to reflect their lifestyles, tastes and inspirations.”
