Country Club Inspiration

I hope you enjoy these just-released photos of our most recent project in Lake in the Hills, Illinois! You can find all of the photos on our website: Country Club Living.  The lovely property that surrounds this country club residence was the design inspiration for this multi-phased interior update. Located at the Boulder Ridge Country Club, it is one of two homes that our semi-retired clients toggle between depending on the weather. (The other is in Naples, Fla.) The kitchen was a primary focus, and it set the tone for the entire first floor. Our goals were to lighten and brighten this much-used space and reconfigure the island to create better traffic flow and make the whole area more user-friendly. The dual-colored cabinets set the right mood with their cool-warm contrast of soft white and greige.  Notice how we incorporated those tones in the jazzy counter stools and the mosaic inset in the backsplash? Those are custom details that give the kitchen professional polish. We added a larger window over the sink as well, to welcome in the sunshine and natural beauty of the property.

Wool Rug Defines Great Room

Warm, organic elements are the defining characteristics of our client’s style, which we call “comfortable luxury.” A range of rich tans and creams creates the backdrop for an intriguing mix of textures, materials, patterns and custom finishes. The soft wool rug above defines the open-plan great room while providing the perfect foundation for pattern from the window treatments and splashes of color from accessories and pillows. It’s great for reducing noise, too, and that’s important to our clients when they are entertaining friends and family. With a sofa, two chairs and several ottomans, there is plenty of seating for everyone. Once you have those basics, it’s important to complete the scene with artwork and spot-on accessories.

A Sweet Wall Treatment

Starting over completely isn’t necessary to give a room a fresh new look. Working with our clients’ existing furniture, we completely transformed this dining room. We gave the walls a custom sugar cane faux finish that adds subtle vertical lines, which create the illusion of higher ceilings. The result is softly elegant and so effective! The organic lines of the new custom area rug work well with the faux finish of the walls and the overall style throughout the first floor. To complement the new, warmer color selections, we refinished their existing metal chandelier which made it instantly look at home in the new space. For the finishing touches, we chose a timeless piece of art that is in harmony with the color palette and custom scaled for the room. I can just imagine the happy occasions shared in this space!

Existing furniture, all new look!

Using our clients’ existing furniture, we gave this study an all new look, starting with the trim. Because we had installed white oak flooring throughout the first floor, we wanted to refinish the wood trim in this space from red oak to a very rich, darker tone that works better with the lighter floor tone. The bold, horizontal, striped window treatments incorporate all the colors of the space, while the layers of rugs make it feel cozy and luxurious. These clients wanted a very finished look, which allowed us to accessorize the room down to the final detail. I could spend hours here with a good book, a Chai Latte and my bare feet on that hair-on-hide rug!

Specialty Paint Finishes Give Custom Look

Specialty paint finishes for walls and ceilings are one of the design elements we are known for at IEG. They  help us create the custom look our clients want. In the study above, we chose a faux finish for the wainscot insets in a crocodile pattern that adds texture, depth and interest. The wildlife pattern on the walls echoes the hair-on-hide rug, too!

We loved getting to know these wonderful clients and working together to bring their vision and ours to life. We would love to collaborate with you on your next project, too! Contact Us  to find out how we can work together, safely.
